Job summary

1898 & Co. in Denver seeks a Transmission Planning Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage scope and client relationships, and drive critical planning studies for North American grid upgrades.

You will mentor staff, shape proposals, and coordinate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and developers, applying standards and tools like PSS/E, PSLF, and ETAP to deliver compliant, high‑impact solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, computer science or related field and 5 years of related professional experience.
• Knowledge in project management, techniques, and procedures.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience leading technical aspects of consulting engagements in regard to power systems, distribution planning, and grid modernization.
• Experience on consulting projects, client operations, or executing program management within the critical infrastructure industry.
• Understanding of general business and financial principles.
• Experience with communicating across business segments to understand project objectives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of transmission planning projects, from business development through execution.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, develop scope and fee structures, ensure quality deliverables, and maintain strong client relationships.
• Mentor and resource for growing talent within the team.
• Lead proposal development, project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
• Set critical project objectives with clients and lead contract development and negotiations.
• Manage full lifecycle of transmission planning projects including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication.
• Lead risk assessment processes and procedures using industry best practices.
• Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams of engineers and analysts.
• Communicate project status, risks, and costs to stakeholders and executive leadership.
