Job summary

ICF is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer to own complex engagements, lead a team, and shape the direction of our practice. You will own steady-state load flow, contingency analysis, and transient stability studies for utilities, developers, and grid operators navigating a dynamic grid.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to business development, and develop Python-based automation to improve study efficiency.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• 5–8+ years of experience in transmission planning or related studies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead on transmission planning engagements and manage scope, schedule, and client relationships.
• Perform steady-state load flow and contingency analysis (PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld).
• Conduct transient stability and dynamic simulations, including IBR modeling.
• Lead large-scale interconnection and long-range expansion studies across multiple ISOs/regions.
• Develop and assess long-range plans considering load growth and generation retirement.
• Author and QA technical study reports for regulatory filings and interconnection submissions.
• Develop Python-based automation to improve study execution and data workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development activities.
