Job summary

ROCHESTER GAS & ELEC CORP invites applications for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our transmission planning team in Rochester, NY. You will identify and develop transmission system investments to modernize the grid and support the clean energy transition.

Primary duties include performing power system studies (steady-state, stability, short-circuit, transfer limits) using PSS/E, ASPEN, CYME and similar tools, and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
Minimum 5 years of industry experience in planning/operation of transmission and distribution power systems.
Advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform power system studies (steady-state, stability, short-circuit, transfer limits) using industry tools.
Collaborate with stakeholders and represent NYSEG and RG&E in forums.
Scope, analyze, and quality-check technical studies; ensure timely deliverables.
Document results, write reports, and prepare presentations.
Assist during storm restoration as needed.
