Job summary
Clearway Energy Group is seeking a Senior Analyst to support transmission modeling, market analysis, and hedging basis risk for wind, solar, and storage assets. You will analyze CAISO/WECC markets, run SCED studies, and collaborate with trading and engineering teams to inform project siting and operating decisions.
The role requires a strong engineering background, 3+ years in energy analytics, and experience with SCED tools (PROMOD/PLEXOS).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years in an analytical role in renewable energy, ISO, or trading.
- 2+ years power systems, market design, or energy trading.
- 2+ years SCED modeling experience with PROMOD/PLEXOS/Dayzer/UPLAN/GridView.
- Knowledge of CAISO and WECC market fundamentals.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Understanding of transmission systems, congestion and curtailment.
Responsibilities
- Perform short- and medium-term SCED studies.
- Support energy optimization/trading with scenario-based analysis.
- Analyze market impacts from planned generation, transmission, retirements, and evolving market fundamentals.
- Provide insights on congestion and curtailment for offtake structures (vPPAs, BESS tolls).
- Maintain updates to production-cost models with market changes.
- Lead engagements with external transmission consultants for reports.
- Participate in ISO, RTO, and PUC stakeholder meetings.
