Job summary

Leidos in Michigan is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join a dynamic team solving challenges in electric transmission.

The role focuses on HV and EHV overhead and underground systems, applying NESC, ASCE, ACI and related standards, and preparing plans, specifications, and procurement documents for client projects.

You will lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with clients and project teams, and support project planning and scheduling in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 5+ years of relevant transmission design experience.
• Experience reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plans and profiles, and construction packages.
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Ability to work in a team and independently; strong client communication.
• Must have leadership experience and supervising others (Senior/SME level).
• Travel to client sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design electric transmission line projects for HV and EHV overhead and underground systems.
• Apply standards and perform engineering analyses and prepare bidding documents.
• Draft plans, specifications, procurement, and construction documents; interface with clients and project teams.
• Lead design efforts and coordinate with multi-person Leidos team.
• Mentor junior engineers and support project planning and scheduling.
