Job summary

NV5 in California seeks a Transmission Line Engineer III to support overhead transmission design projects from 60kV to 500kV. You will route and design lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER, and QA/QC model packages.

Requires 5–10 years of experience, a CA PE license, and a B.S. in engineering; M.S. preferred. Hybrid role in Southern California offices with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of progressive overhead transmission engineering experience.
• Experience QA/QC a wide variety of T-Line project submittals.
• B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• M.S. Degree in related engineering field is preferred.
• Experience with Civil/Structural Transmission Line disciplines (Steel Pole Design, Foundation Design).
• Tower Design w/ PLS-TOWER not required, but a plus.
• Experience in 12kV to 500kV line design and working knowledge of Power Line Systems software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of California

Responsibilities

• Routing and design of transmission lines using PLS software suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER).
• QA/QC of PLS-CADD models and job packages before submittals.
• Structure and foundation design, criteria development, materials procurement, cost estimating, and quality control reviews.
• Construction support and direct interaction with construction crews.
• Prepare drawings and documentation for construction of transmission line projects.
• Provide leadership and training to less experienced staff members.
