Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer III to support our Overhead Electric Transmission practice in Southern California. The hybrid position will focus on routing, design, and execution of high voltage overhead projects from 60kV to 500kV, with a team-based approach in San Diego, Los Angeles, or Irvine.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have 5–10 years of progressive overhead transmission engineering experience.
• Ability to QA/QC a wide range of T-Line submittals before client submissions.
• Experience with civil/structural transmission line disciplines (steel pole design, foundation design).
• Proficiency with Power Line Systems software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER).
• PE license in California is preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Routing and design of transmission lines using the Power Line Systems suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER).
• QA/QC of PLS-CADD models and job packages before external submittals.
• Structure analysis, foundation design, materials procurement, cost estimating, and QC reviews.
• Construction support and direct interaction with construction crews.
• Prepare drawings and documentation for construction of transmission line projects.
• Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and training to less experienced staff.
