Job summary

NV5, with a strong presence in Southern California, is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer II to support overhead electric transmission projects from 60kV to 500kV. You will join a team routing, designing, and executing high voltage transmission work and prepare drawings for construction.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s in an ABET-accredited engineering program and 3–5 years of overhead transmission experience.

Qualifications

3–5 years of progressive overhead transmission engineering experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
MS degree in related field is a plus.
Experience with 12kV to 500kV line design.
Experience with Power Line Systems software suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER) is a plus.
EIT certification.
PE license is a plus.

Responsibilities

Routing and design of transmission lines utilizing the Power Line Systems software suite including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER.
Structure analysis and foundation design, job package creation, developing design criteria and specifications, specification and procurement of materials, project cost estimating, and quality control reviews.
Construction support and direct interaction with construction crews.
Will prepare drawings and documentation for construction of transmission line projects.
