Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer for a hybrid role based in Lexington, KY. You will design transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV, develop cost criteria, and perform conductor selection studies while coordinating with vendors and clients.

The position requires a BS degree (ABET), 7+ years of project experience, and strong knowledge of design standards (NESC/IEEE/IEC). Occasional travel and relocation support are available.

Qualifications

• BS degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years of project experience on transmission line design, schedules and budgets.
• Knowledge to verify right of way requirements, conductor sag/tensions, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• MS Office proficiency and strong written/verbal communication.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Develop cost analyses, design criteria, routing and siting of transmission lines.
• Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction analyses.
• Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates for new work.
• Support site visits and client meetings as part of a diverse project team.
