Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced drafting professional to support transmission line design in a project team with engineers and other designers. You will apply AutoCAD and 3D design tools to develop plans and drawings for line projects.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to multi-task across multiple projects while coordinating with engineering staff and vendors.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with drafting coursework/experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• 10+ years’ experience in transmission line design/drafting.
• Knowledge of techniques, tools and principles for technical plans and drawings.
• Ability to visualize 3D parts without CAD.
• Ability to multi-task across projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop transmission line plans and profile drawings, hardware details, material lists, and grounding details.
• Create master sketches to scale showing proposed installations relative to existing facilities.
• Interpret input from specifications, weight/volume calculations, and stress factors with engineering staff.
• Visit client facilities with project team to gather information.
• Explain drawings to vendors and contractors to support design adjustments.
