Job summary

Daimler Truck is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to develop complex gearbox housings and transmission components for powertrain applications. You will collaborate with OEM or Tier 1 suppliers to ensure functional durability and manufacturability, including castings and cast supplier engagement.

The role requires hands-on CAD experience with NX or CATIA/Pro-E, strong GD&T knowledge, and CAE familiarity. English fluency is essential; German basics are a plus.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Automotive/Production with casting foundry experience.
• Minimum 3 years automotive design experience (OEM or Tier 1).
• Knowledge of GD&T and drawing specifications for housing design.
• Experience with CAE simulations (structural) and cast material flow is a plus.
• Siemens NX (3+ years) or Catia/Pro-E (5+ years) experience; modules include solid modelling, sheet metal, tubing, drafting, CAE.

Responsibilities

• Design complex housings based on functional, durability & manufacturing requirements (HPDC / LPDC & Sand Castings) and develop housing with cast suppliers.
• Design transmission components (gears, shafts, bearings; casting, forging, sheet metal components).
• Design eAxle components (gears, shafts, casting, forging, sheet metal components).
• Design plastic/steel tubes, support brackets for gearbox peripherals.
