Job summary

RENK America is seeking a Transmission Mechanical Engineer to design transmissions and gear boxes for military ground vehicles, including tanks and IFVs. The role covers full product development from research through testing, reporting to the Director of Transmission Engineering.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, up to 8 years of related experience, CAD experience (Creo) and CAE tools (ANSYS, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, etc.).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required with 0-8 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations such as mechanical stress, structural, thermal fluids and heat transfer.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and components such as gears, shafts, pumps, and bearings.
• GD&T knowledge and ability to create/read machining and assembly prints.
• Creo or other CAD modeling software experience.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical sub system design, analysis, integration, and performance evaluation for combat vehicle applications.
• Develop innovative technical concepts and perform mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal analysis to meet requirements.
• Develop & release detailed CAD models and drawings for qualification and production release using Engineering Change Proposals.
• Collaborate with program management, project engineering, test engineering, analysts, designers, and electrical/controls engineering.
• Compose design verification test plans to capture performance data for design compliance.
• Oversee qualification activities including bench, dynamometer, and vehicle testing.
• Participate in root cause failure analyses and process improvements.
• Maintain existing product design and support production and supply chain.
