Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Senior Design Engineer, Structural Housing, to lead new structural housing concepts for propulsion solutions across markets. You will apply DFA/DFM, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups to develop cast components in iron and aluminum and support product development.

The role requires 6+ years of structural casting experience, strong CAD skills (Siemens NX preferred), and proven ability to manage multiple programs while communicating clearly with teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 6+ years of structural casting (iron & aluminum) experience in powertrain engineering
• Proven ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
• Strong communication and time-management skills

Responsibilities

• Develop new structural housing concepts and cast components using DFA/DFM, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups
• Perform loading, stress, and life calculations for sizing
• Review analyses and make design judgements based on results
• Define DVP&R levels and coordinate testing and data review
• Support PFMEA/DFMEA activities and ensure design best practices
• Provide technical support to vertical engineering groups across end markets
• Stay current with industry trends in structural castings and electrification
• Collaborate effectively within the team and with customers
