Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Transmission Engineer to supervise a team of technical designers and engineers in the development of electrical designs and cost estimates.

The role emphasizes ensuring compliance with safety codes and industry standards while coordinating with other departments on company initiatives. Ideal candidates will have 10+ years in power transmission design, an ABET‑accredited degree, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Active PE licensure.
• 10+ years of experience in power transmission design.
• Ability to supervise a team of engineers and technicians while maintaining work quality.
• Extensive knowledge of overhead and underground transmission facilities.
• Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and related standards.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise technical staff in the preparation of utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing.
• Manage schedules and assign projects and daily work.
• Mentor staff and enforce technical engineering principles and safety codes.
• Instruct staff on company policies and safety.
• Instruct on the use of computer systems, software, tools, and company vehicles.
• Provide guidance for professional communication with stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal/external design reviews prior to submissions.
• Evaluate performance and development of staff.
• Collaborate on policies reflecting best engineering practices.
• Collaborate with other departments on company initiatives.
• Perform duties of Transmission Engineering Manager when unavailable.
• Maintain relationships with clients and pursue future opportunities.
