Job summary

GMB Power Line Services, a family-owned West Virginia utility contractor, is hiring a Project Estimator – Transmission & Distribution to develop accurate, competitive estimates for overhead and underground TD projects. You will quantify labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs from plans, specs, and field conditions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in electric utility construction estimating or closely related TD construction role.
• Knowledge of transmission and distribution methods, materials, equipment, and terminology.
• Experience reviewing utility drawings, specifications, bid schedules, and bid documents.
• Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates.
• Familiarity with union labor structures, including IBEW wage rates, classifications, fringes, and labor requirements.
• Valid driver''s license and travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for electric utility transmission and distribution projects.
• Develop overhead and underground distribution project estimates (pole replacement, line extensions, cables, etc.).
• Develop transmission project estimates (new line construction, reconductoring, structure replacement).
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specs, standards, and bid documents.
• Build labor estimates using crew compositions and wage rates; consider productivity and overtime.
• Coordinate with operations, procurement, and vendors for pricing and lead times.
• Prepare estimate summaries and bid documentation; update estimates per approved changes.
