Job summary
Marmon Industrial Energy and Infrastructure seeks a Communication Design Engineer to lead transmission-cable design and qualification efforts. You will apply RF and optical theories to conductor geometry, dielectric systems, shielding, fiber selection, and terminations, delivering reliable, manufacturable products.
Requirements include a Bachelor's in Electrical/Optical Engineering or related field and at least five years in cable design or fiber-optic product development; travel may be required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Minimum five years in cable design, transmission-line/RF propagation, or fiber-optic product development.
- Experience designing and qualifying cable products and interpreting specs, drawings, test data, and standards.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, change control, Stage-Gate/NPD, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead new product development and sustaining projects for coaxial, twisted-pair, fiber-optic, and hybrid cables.
- Apply transmission theory to geometry, dielectrics, shielding, fiber, and termination design.
- Document assumptions, risks, tolerances, and acceptance criteria; drive design reviews and testing.
- Design and qualify products to standards such as ISO/IEC 11801, SPE, UL, and CSA; support RoHS/REACH obligations.
- Manage projects using Stage-Gate and NPD processes; ensure traceable, released specifications and drawings.
