Job summary

Puget Sound Energy in Washington state is seeking an Engineer III - Transmission and Asset Integration to lead advanced engineering workstreams across planning, procurement, integration, and operations for the merchant transmission portfolio.

You will perform complex analyses, develop recommendations, and support generation resources, interconnections, and regional market activities to improve deliverability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a degreed engineer (minimum)
• Strong organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
• PE license may substitute for degree

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced engineering, technical, and analytical support for the management and optimization of PSE's merchant transmission portfolio across planning, procurement, integration, and operations.
• Leads transmission, interconnection and asset integration workstreams supporting reliable and cost-effective resource delivery.
• Performs complex analysis of transmission availability, deliverability, congestion, curtailment, outages, contract rights, service options, constraints, and resource delivery requirements.
• Develops technical recommendations on transmission service alternatives, delivery assumptions, risks, costs, and implementation requirements.
• Applies detailed knowledge in FERC OATT requirements, transmission provider practices, BPA processes, generator interconnection requirements, LGIP/LGIA provisions, affected system coordination, and transmission regulations.
• Supports resource acquisitions and self-build projects by evaluating transmission and interconnection requirements, costs, constraints, risks, and implementation considerations.
• Coordinates resolution of transmission-related technical, contractual, scheduling, and implementation issues with internal and external stakeholders.
• Evaluates regional transmission, tariff, market, and policy developments and communicates impacts to portfolio deliverability, costs, curtailment, and resource integration.
• Develops and improves analytical tools, reports, datasets, frameworks, and documentation supporting merchant transmission strategy, portfolio management, asset integration, and operational readiness.
• Participates in cross-functional teams, transmission provider discussions, stakeholder processes, and regional industry forums.
• May lead or coordinate the work of junior engineers, engineering assistants, field technicians, and others who assist on specific projects. (This includes contractor/consultants.)
• Performs other duties as assigned.
