Job summary

Puget Sound Energy is seeking an Engineer II to support merchant transmission portfolio management, asset integration, and service strategy in a hybrid (WA-based) role in Bellevue. You will collaborate with multiple internal teams to optimize generation and delivery assets and ensure regulatory compliance.

The position emphasizes analyzing market developments, coordinating with providers, and delivering technical recommendations for transmission services and interconnections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering or PE license (PE may substitute).
• 3+ years of practice as a degreed engineer with planning, design, and scheduling experience.
• Strong organization, documentation, prioritization and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering, technical, and analytical support for merchant transmission portfolio management across planning, procurement, integration and operations horizons.
• Evaluates transmission availability, deliverability, curtailment, outages, rights, service options and system constraints affecting portfolio resources.
• Develops technical recommendations for transmission service, resource delivery and asset integration matters.
• Prepares, submits, administers, and tracks transmission service requests, renewals, modifications, redirects, generator interconnection requests, and related provider processes.
• Supports asset integration of generation resources and other contracted or owned assets.
• Supports resource acquisitions and self-build projects by evaluating transmission and interconnection requirements, costs and constraints.
• Applies knowledge of FERC tariffs, BPA processes, generator interconnection and transmission rules.
• Coordinates with internal stakeholders and external providers to support decisions, implementation, documentation and issue resolution.
• Monitors and analyzes developments affecting deliverability, tariff, policy, and market developments.
• Develops analytical tools, datasets, reports, and documentation supporting transmission strategy and readiness.
• May coordinate the work of engineering assistants, technicians, contractors, or others.
