Job summary

Novartis Cambridge is seeking a Senior Scientist to drive immunology-focused translational research bridging discovery to early clinical development. You will execute multiparameter flow cytometry, ex vivo human studies, and data-driven decision-making within a collaborative Oncology Translational Research team.

The role emphasizes independent experimentation, rigorous ELN documentation, and clear communication of results to cross-functional teams in a dynamic, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced hands-on experience with multiparameter or spectral flow cytometry, including panel design.
• Experience with primary human cell culture and immune- or tumor-biology assays.
• Experience with intracellular cytokine staining and multiplex cytokine assays.
• Strong data-analysis and presentation skills using GraphPad Prism and Spotfire.
• Ability to independently design and execute rigorous experiments.
• Excellent written and oral communication with thorough ELN documentation.
• Experience with real-time cell analytics (IncuCyte) is desirable.
• Biotech/pharma industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot and optimize flow-based and cell-based assays to characterize immune, stromal and tumor populations.
• Perform ex vivo studies using human samples and patient-derived materials with sterile techniques.
• Develop readouts for proliferation, viability, apoptosis, signaling and mechanism of action.
• Analyze data and communicate interpretations and next steps to project teams.
• Plan and execute experiments aligned with strategy; manage priorities and timelines.
• Maintain accurate ELN records and ensure traceability of methods and samples.
• Introduce new methods to improve data quality and throughput.
• Contribute to publications, train colleagues, and collaborate across teams.
