Job summary

Burgess & Niple is seeking a Transit Design Senior Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams across bus rapid transit, arterial rapid transit, light rail, and streetcar projects. You will guide projects from planning and environmental review through design, construction, and launch, acting as the main client contact with transit agencies and government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BSCE from ABET-accredited program is required.
• PE registration in the state of employment, or ability to be registered by reciprocity.
• 10+ years of related transportation design experience for state and municipal clients.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation and OpenRoads.
• Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and proactive problem solving.
• Servant leader committed to fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence while developing others.

Responsibilities

• Manage planning, design, and delivery of rapid transit capital projects from planning through commissioning.
• Oversee design execution with monitoring of scope, schedule, and budget.
• Ensure compliance with FE/FTA requirements and funding processes.
• Lead stations, corridors, signals, guideways, and ITS interfaces.
• Serve as primary client contact and maintain long-term relationships.
• Mentor staff and provide technical guidance to developing engineers.
• Support business development through proposals, scoping, and client pursuits.
• Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local grant funding rules.
