Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Lead Transformer Technician to direct field activities across substations, plants, and industrial environments. You will oversee installation, assembly, maintenance, testing, and safety compliance on transformers, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and quality.

As a senior on-site leader, you’ll coordinate crews, read technical drawings, document field work, and provide guidance to junior technicians while supporting troubleshooting and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in transformer assembly, installation, or field service in substations, plants, or industrial settings.
• Experience directing crews and coordinating tasks on site.
• Strong communication with supervisors, managers, and trades on site.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures.
• Experience documenting field work and checklists.

Responsibilities

• Lead field work for installation, maintenance, and testing of transformers.
• Direct daily crew activities and assign tasks to meet scope.
• Serve as on-site contact for progress and field conditions.
• Ensure safety compliance including LOTO, PPE, and environmental rules.
• Monitor progress, productivity, and quality to meet schedules.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to guide work.
• Assist with transformer testing and diagnostics.
• Complete service reports and checklists for field documentation.
• Identify field issues and support corrective actions.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians and ensure proper equipment use.
