Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Train Control Design Manager in Lynnwood, WA to lead the train control discipline and oversee design, integration, and commissioning of ATP, ATO, and CBTC systems for passenger and freight rail environments.

You will manage the Train Control team, coordinate with signalling engineers and operations staff, and ensure safety certifications and regulatory compliance. 15–20 years in rail/transit and a P.E. license are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• P.E. license required.
• Familiarity with AREMA, IEEE, FRA, FTA and safety certification processes.
• 15–20 years of rail/transit experience; 10+ years in train control.

Responsibilities

• Leads design, integration, and commissioning of train control systems (ATP, ATO, CBTC) ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinates multidisciplinary teams and oversees system architectures, interfaces, and test procedures.
• Provides technical leadership during hazard analysis, FMEA, and safety certification; liaises with clients and regulators.
• Defines project scope and executes assignments related to signalling and train control systems.
• Supervises staff and interfaces with senior professionals; represents the organization with clients and regulatory agencies.
