Job summary

GFT in Nashville, TN is seeking a Traffic Project Engineer to lead the design and delivery of advanced traffic and ITS projects across Georgia and the Southeast, with a hybrid work model requiring three days on site.

You will mentor engineers, manage schedules and budgets, develop plans and reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet quality expectations while advancing transportation infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• 8–15 years of progressive engineering experience in transportation design.
• Prior experience with Georgia DOT projects preferred.
• Proficient in MicroStation, VISSIM, Synchro, HCS, Sidra and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with traffic control elements: plans, specs, estimates; MOT.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex traffic signal and ITS projects across urban streets, arterials, freeways, and citywide deployments.
• Provide subject matter expertise in ITS, including detection, communications, system integration, and operational strategies.
• Design and review traffic signals, interconnects, signing, pavement markings, and MOT plans.
• Plan and direct traffic analyses, safety studies, and interchange justification reports.
• Manage project schedules and budgets; ensure on-time, on-scope delivery.
