Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer / Project Manager to lead traffic engineering and design for transportation projects across New York City and Long Island. The role requires coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, agencies, and project managers.

You will mentor junior staff, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure designs meet federal, state, and local standards. The position supports a hybrid work model with offices in Woodbury or New York City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license in New York or ability to obtain reciprocity within six months.
• 8–12 years of progressively responsible experience in traffic engineering and transportation design.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering and design tasks from initiation through final design and construction support.
• Perform operational analyses and simulations with Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS.
• Prepare traffic impact studies, memos, and engineering recommendations.
• Apply MUTCD, NYSDOT/NYCDOT standards to signing, striping, signal warrant studies (MPT/MOT).
• Lead development of traffic signal plans, phasing, timing, detection, interconnects.
