Job summary

City of Montgomery, AL seeks an Engineering Technician III to assist Traffic Engineers in conducting advanced technical surveying and project work. Responsibilities include reviewing plats, developing plans, supervising staff, and serving as custodian and SME for the UAS program.

Under the supervision of a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will perform complex tasks, provide guidance to junior staff, and collaborate with other divisions to collect data and perform comprehensive surveys.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D and five (5) years of technical engineering experience in traffic/public works/transportation, including supervisory experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Driver’s License and an insurable driving record; FAA UAS Remote Pilot Certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Traffic Engineers in reviewing plats, developing plans, and conducting surveys.
• Serve as custodian and subject matter expert for the department's UAS program.
• Supervise one or more employees and collaborate with other traffic divisions to gather data.
