Job summary

RETTEW is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer | Technical Lead to guide the technical delivery of traffic engineering services within our Transportation team. The role emphasizes leadership, client relations, and complex analyses while expanding project impact across teams.

You will mentor staff, establish technical approaches, and ensure deliverables meet standards. Hybrid work in PA with opportunities across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Active PE license in Pennsylvania or in another state with PA licensure ability.
• Minimum eight years of progressive traffic engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical delivery or review of traffic work.
• Proficiency with traffic operations, impact studies, signal/ corridor analyses, safety, or access projects.
• Experience using traffic analysis tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, or VISSIM.
• Ability to produce and review calculations, models, and reports.
• Strong knowledge of applicable standards and client requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to lead and coach teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review traffic engineering analyses, studies, and designs.
• Mentor staff and guide technical approaches and quality standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and agencies throughout delivery.
• Develop practical, data-informed recommendations to improve operations and safety.
• Prepare calculations, models, plans, reports, and technical deliverables.
• Ensure work is accurate, constructible, and compliant with standards.
• Coordinate with PennDOT, municipalities, and MPOs on projects.
• Contribute to proposals, templates, and quality-control practices.
• Stay current with evolving traffic engineering tools and practices.
