Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer / Business Developer in New York City to lead transportation projects, mentor staff, and drive client engagements. You’ll oversee planning studies, analyses, and environmental considerations while coordinating multi-discipline teams in a collaborative, hybrid work setting.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, a NY/NJ/CT PE license, 15+ years in transportation engineering, 8+ years in project management, and proven business development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a NY/NJ/CT PE license; PTOE/RSP certifications are a plus.
• Minimum of 15 years in transportation engineering, 8 years in project management, and 5 years working with NYSDOT/CTDOT/NJDOT.
• Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles.
• Demonstrated skill at project management and business development.
• Proven track record coordinating interdisciplinary teams on large transportation projects.
• Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and regional standards (NY/NJ/CT).
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities; capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation projects, manage resources, and ensure on-time delivery within budget.
• Mentor and develop staff; drive collaboration across disciplines.
• Lead transportation planning studies, traffic analyses, and safety assessments.
• Participate in hiring and team growth; engage with stakeholders and public meetings.
• Represent the organization at professional conferences and workshops.
