Job summary

Lochner is seeking a mid‑senior Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner in Tampa, FL. The role leads data collection, analysis, and complex traffic studies for FDOT and local clients.

You will manage corridor studies, signal warrant analyses, and LOS assessments, while guiding junior staff and ensuring QA/QC across reports. Hybrid work options are available with a strong focus on project delivery.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive professional experience in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning.
• BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field.
• PE license in Florida or AICP preferred (or able to obtain within 6 months).
• Advanced proficiency with traffic analysis and modeling tools (Synchro, VISSIM, HCS).
• Experience on FDOT, MPO, or Florida municipal projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee traffic data collection, reduction, and advanced analysis.
• Manage and author traffic impact studies and corridor analyses.
• Develop traffic signal warrant analyses, sight distance evaluations, and LOS assessments.
• Deliver Traffic Engineering Studies and Operations reports for FDOT and local agencies.
• Direct travel demand modeling and scenario analyses.
