Job summary

Baxter & Woodman invites a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to join our national transportation team. This leadership role provides technical oversight, project direction, and mentorship across Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas.

You will lead traffic impact studies, signal design, corridor evaluations, and transportation planning with state and municipal clients. PTOE certification and PE license are preferred; travel within service areas is required.

Qualifications

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience.
PTOE certification and PE licensure preferred.
Ability to travel within Baxter & Woodman's Illinois service areas (own transportation) and attend client/in-office meetings as required.
Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
Lead and review traffic impact studies and corridor evaluations.
Lead preparation of traffic signal designs and signing/pavement plans.
Mentor engineering staff as a technical resource.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and QA/QC.
Lead or support proposals, client presentations, and business development.
Support growth initiatives within the transportation practice.
Develop and implement QA/QC standards across projects.
Stay current on FHWA, MUTCD, and industry practices.
