Job summary

Baxter & Woodman Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to guide transportation projects across our Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas offices.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, quality oversight, and mentoring staff while delivering traffic studies, signal design, and corridor evaluations. You will collaborate with state, county, municipal, and private-sector clients within a national service area, support growth initiatives, and help maintain high standards of safety

Qualifications

• Progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience.
• Strong knowledge of traffic operations, safety, and planning principles.
• Ability to travel throughout Illinois service areas and attend client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering projects.
• Lead and review traffic impact studies, corridor evaluations, and signal designs.
• Mentor engineering staff and support proposal preparation and business development.
• Ensure quality assurance and control across projects and stay current with FHWA/MUTCD standards.
