Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to guide traffic engineering and transportation projects across our Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas offices. The role focuses on technical leadership, quality oversight, and strategic guidance for a national service area.

This position requires 15+ years of experience, PTOE preferred, PE preferred, and the ability to travel within service areas.

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience.
Strong knowledge of traffic operations, safety, signals, and planning principles.
Ability to travel throughout Illinois/Wisconsin/Florida/Texas service areas as required.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering projects.
Lead traffic impact studies, analyses, and corridor evaluations.
Prepare traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and maintenance of traffic plans.
Mentor engineering staff and support project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
Support proposals, client presentations, and business development activities.
Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control standards.
Stay current on FHWA, MUTCD guidance, and evolving best practices.
