Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning across our Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas offices. You will guide traffic studies, signal design, signing plans, and corridor evaluations, while mentoring staff and supporting business development.

Applicants should have a BS in Civil Engineering with 15+ years of experience and PTOE certification preferred.

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience.
Strong knowledge of traffic operations, safety, signals, and planning.
Experience reviewing traffic impact studies and signal projects.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
Lead and review traffic impact studies, analyses, and corridor evaluations.
Lead preparation of traffic signal designs, signing/marking plans, and maintenance of traffic plans.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineering staff.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control reviews.
Lead or support proposals, client presentations, and business development.
Assist with traffic-related growth initiatives within the transportation practice.
Develop and implement QA/QC standards to improve consistency and efficiency.
Stay current on industry standards and FHWA/MUTCD guidance.
