Job summary

Fishbeck in Indiana seeks a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation team. You will lead complex design projects from concept through construction, ensuring INDOT conformity and high-quality outputs.

With 10+ years of traffic engineering experience and an Indiana PE license, you will mentor junior staff, collaborate with clients and agencies, and grow Fishbeck’s Indiana transportation practice while delivering safe, efficient transportation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years of traffic engineering experience, including INDOT-related projects.
• Indiana Professional Engineer license required.
• Proficiency in MicroStation; experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of INDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
• Experience with Highway Capacity Software and Synchro; TransModeler experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with the ITE Trip Generation Manual, complex maintenance of traffic design, and traffic studies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with intelligent transportation systems and highway lighting design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of traffic engineering components, including maintenance of traffic plans, signing and pavement marking layouts, and traffic signal systems.
• Ensure project work complies with INDOT standards, the Indiana Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and applicable design guidelines.
• Conduct traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and construction cost estimates.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and communication.
• Mentor and support junior staff while coordinating with other disciplines and regional offices.
• Collaborate with clients, local agencies, and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions.
