Job summary

Fishbeck in Michigan is seeking a Traffic Engineer to lead complex transportation design projects from concept through construction. You will mentor junior staff, support client relationships, and help grow Fishbeck’s Michigan transportation practice.

The role requires a BS or MS in Civil Engineering, 10+ years of traffic engineering experience, a Michigan Professional Engineer license, and proficiency with MicroStation; MDOT standards knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• MDOT-related project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of traffic engineering components, including maintenance of traffic plans, signing and pavement marking layouts, and traffic signal systems.
• Ensure project work complies with MDOT standards and guidelines.
• Conduct traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and construction cost estimates.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and communication.
• Mentor and support junior staff while coordinating with other disciplines and regional offices.
• Collaborate with clients, local agencies, and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions.
