Apex Engineering Group, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Traffic Engineer to lead traffic operations studies, perform analyses, and act as engineer-of-record on transportation projects.

The role involves collaboration with project managers, participation in business development, and mentoring junior staff. A PE license or ability to obtain in ND/MN within six months is required. The position offers flexibility to work from multiple Apex offices or remotely within 250 miles, with in-person meetings as

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineers License or ability to be licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota within 6 months.
• PTOE certification is required or in progress.
• 5+ years of traffic engineering and transportation planning experience.
• Experience with ND/MN public agencies preferred.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Detail oriented, self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
• Traffic modeling experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Vissim, and related software.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic operations studies and corridor studies.
• Independently perform traffic engineering calculations, analyses, and design tasks.
• Prepare technical reports and correspondence for diverse audiences.
• Lead engineer-of-record roles on traffic/transportation projects (signals, signing, ITS).
• Coordinate with technicians to assemble engineering plans.
• Mentor and review the work of junior team members.
• Contribute to project budgets and schedules.
• Participate in business development and marketing activities.
• Prepare technical proposals for project pursuits with others.
• Attend transportation team and company meetings as required.
• Assist in budgets for traffic elements of projects.
• Hire and recruit traffic staff as needed.
• Represent the team in public meetings and outreach.
