Job summary

Apex Engineering Group is seeking a Sr. Traffic Engineer to lead traffic operations and transportation studies, developing plans for public and private clients across multiple states. You will prepare proposals, mentor staff, and collaborate with project managers and market leaders on transportation initiatives.

Flexible work locations within Apex offices or remote within 250 miles; strong emphasis on client engagement, budgets, and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• PTOE certification is required or anticipated.
• Professional Engineer license or eligibility in North Dakota and Minnesota within 6 months is required.
• 5+ years of traffic engineering and transportation planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic operations studies, corridor studies, traffic impact studies, multi-modal studies, and comprehensive plans.
• Independently perform traffic engineering calculations, analysis, and design tasks.
• Write technical specifications, reports, and other correspondence for diverse audiences.
• Lead design efforts as engineer-of-record on traffic and transportation projects (traffic control, signals, signing, pavement marking, ITS).
• Mentor and oversee less experienced staff; collaborate with project managers and market leaders.
