Job summary

Creighton Manning, a GAI Company, seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Syracuse office. You will lead traffic tasks with complex features, either directly or through supervision, thriving in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment and collaborating across disciplines.

You will work with DOT standards and MUTCD design requirements, manage project teams, perform traffic modeling, design signals and MPT elements, and communicate effectively with clients and leadership.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (or higher) required.
  • 12+ years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with reciprocity in multiple states.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • MicroStation CAD skills required; OpenRoads Designer experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production and verification of traffic reports, design plans, calculations, and cost opinions.

  • Serve as task manager on projects.
  • Oversee a project team and coordinate documentation for major projects.

Job description

Creighton Manning, a GAI Company, is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to work in our Syracuse office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, team‑oriented environment and must be a team player who excels in collaborative settings and can independently lead traffic tasks with complex features, either directly or through supervision of others. Familiarity with DOT standards and MUTCD design requirements is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the production and verification of technical traffic reports, design plans, calculations, specifications, and cost opinions.
  • Perform traffic modeling and analysis using tools such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, SimTraffic, etc., as well as traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) design.
  • Serve as the task manager on projects.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance in applying advanced concepts and methods in the assigned area.
  • Stay informed about new developments and requirements affecting the organization and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Develop new techniques, improved processes, materials, or products as needed.
Project and Task Management
  • Oversee a project team of engineers and technicians.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate documentation or activity preparation for multiple major projects.
  • Analyze project management plans for complex engineering projects.
  • Apply risk management principles to address uncertainties in project delivery.
  • Review operational procedures to ensure compliance with policies and performance measures.
Management Responsibility
  • Receive administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad objectives and limits.
  • Foster a professional, creative, flexible, and dependable environment for staff.
Communication Skills
  • Apply principles of formal, strategic, and persuasive communication.
  • Represent the specialty area within the organization and liaise with related individuals and organizations.
  • Interact routinely with organizational leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Integrate teamwork and leadership concepts.

Pay Range

Syracuse: $52.88–67.30 per hour (pay based on applicant’s ability/experience and labor market).
