Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer (Traction Power) to lead complex Rail + Transit projects across the United States, focusing on traction power systems for heavy and light rail. You will guide design teams, coordinate with civil, track, signals, and utilities, and engage with transit agencies to advance projects.

The role requires a PE license or reciprocity and 10+ years in traction power, with strong communication skills and a track record of delivering safe, reliable electrified

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in traction power and rail electrification design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; PE license preferred.
• Experience with heavy rail, commuter rail, or light rail projects.
• Familiarity with rail agencies and utility coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of traction power systems including substations, rectifiers, transformers and OCS interfaces.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, voltage drop, harmonic, and coordination studies.
• Develop design criteria, specs, drawings and calculations with QA/QC.
• Coordinate with civil, track, signals and systems disciplines.
• Interface with transit agencies and stakeholders; support proposals and client meetings.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide multidisciplinary teams.
