Job summary

RailWorks Corporation is seeking a Traction Power Engineer to plan, develop, and manage traction power activities for rail transit projects in the United States. The role involves coordinating design, construction, testing, and commissioning with a focus on avoiding scope gaps and ensuring systems function in accordance with contract requirements.

The position requires 5+ years of traction power experience, a relevant engineering degree, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of traction power/power distribution systems/engineering experience in rail transit environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field; construction management or project management credentials are a plus.
• Strong reading and interpretation of plans, specs, safety standards, and contract documents.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to manage cost and schedule controls.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee traction power engineering activities from design through commissioning.
• Provide technical support for construction including interpretation of designs and constructability reviews.
• Manage design integration with the engineer of record to prevent scope gaps.
• Coordinate procurement, installation, and testing with QA/QC plans.
• Prepare bids, take-offs, and assist with cost management and risk analysis.
• Develop and manage closeout documentation for final acceptance.
