Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer (Traction Power) to support and lead complex Rail + Transit projects across the nation. The role focuses on designing traction power systems and delivering technically rigorous solutions for heavy, commuter, and light rail applications.

With a PE license and 10+ years in traction power design, you will mentor teams, coordinate with multidisciplinary groups, and participate in client meetings to drive growth in TYLin's Rail + Transit practice across DC,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; reciprocity required for DC/MD/VA.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in traction power and rail electrification design.
• Experience with heavy rail, commuter rail, light rail, or streetcar systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of traction power systems including TPSS, rectifier/transformer systems, DC switchgear and AC distribution, OCS interfaces and ground/bonding.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, voltage drop, harmonic, and coordination studies; develop design criteria, specs, drawings, and calculations.
• Serve as Engineer of Record as applicable; coordinate with civil, track, signals, and systems disciplines; interface with utility/agency stakeholders.
• Support construction services with RFIs, submittal reviews, and field inspections.
• Assist proposals and technical pursuits for regional transit agencies; participate in client meetings and presentations.
