Job summary

Moog Inc. in Murphy, NC is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join its onsite machine shop.

You will specialize in constructing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating tools, jigs, fixtures, stamping dies, molds, and instruments, while interpreting drawings and precise specifications. The role requires strong knowledge of tool fabrication with tight tolerances and safety focus; typical duties include machining, heat treating, grinding, and setting dies to exacting standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to understand and follow English instructions and math operations.
• Typically, at least 7 years of tooling experience.
• Must understand safety and perform precision duties in tool/fixture fabrication.
• Experience with all phases of machine tool and die work and tolerances of ±0.0001 in.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in construction, repair, maintenance, calibration of machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, dies and molds.
• Operates machine tools and performs layout, fitting and assembly of parts.
• Receives drawings and requirements from foreman or engineers and executes tasks accordingly.
• Mentally analyzes, sketches or lays out tools using handbooks and tables as required.
• Cuts material from stock or orders and draws tools from tool crib for production.
• Performs all machining, heat treating, grinding and related processes including stamping dies.
