Job summary

Moog in Murphy, NC is seeking a Toolmaker to join the machine shop on site. You will construct, repair, and calibrate tools, jigs, fixtures, stamping dies, and molding instruments, while reading drawings and ensuring tight tolerances.

Essential duties include operating machine tools, layout work, and employing heat treating/grinding as needed. Candidates should have strong English comprehension and at least 7 years in tooling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; otherwise able to understand and apply verbal, written and computer instructions in English.
• Typically at least 7 years of tooling experience.
• Understand safety in using tools and perform precision duties in tool/fixture fabrication.
• Experience in machine tool and die work with close tolerance of +/- .0001 in.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of tools, jigs, fixtures, stamping dies, molds, and instruments.
• Operates various machine tools and performs layout, fitting, and assembly of parts.
• Receives drawings, sketches and requests from foreman or engineers and carries out requirements.
• Makes sketches or layouts, consults handbooks, and cuts material from stock or orders.
• Draws tools from tool crib, lays out work and conducts machining.
• Performs heat treatment/grinding and other processes for stamping dies and dies setup.
