Job summary

Moog Inc seeks a Toolmaker to join the Murphy, NC facility. The role requires experienced tooling capabilities, including tool and die work, precision machining and interpreting drawings.

You will support production through tool construction, maintenance and calibration, ensuring safety and high quality results. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, or equivalent ability to follow instructions in English, and at least seven years in tooling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Otherwise demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions in English.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, stamping dies, molds, and instruments.
• Operates various machine tools and performs layout, fitting, and assembling parts.
• Receives drawings and requests from foreman or engineers on requirements.
• Analyses mentally, sketches, consults handbooks as required.
• Cuts material from stock or orders.
• Draws tools from tool crib and performs machining.
• Performs heat treating/grinding or other processes to include stamping dies and running first article.

Job Title: Toolmaker

Reporting To: Supervisor, Machine Shop

Work Schedule: Onsite – Murphy, NC

To be considered for Toolmaker, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

High School diploma or GED preferred.Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Typically, at least 7 years of experience in tooling (not including trade school). Must understand safety in using and be able to perform precision duties in the fabrication of tools and fixtures. Experience working all phases of machine tool and die practice and be able to work close tolerance to + or - .0001.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, stamping dies, molds, and instruments.
• Operates various machine tools and performs other highly skilled work such as layout-out, fitting, and assembling parts.
• Receives drawings, sketches, parts, request from foreman or manufacturing engineers on what is required and when.
• Analyses mentally, makes sketches, drawings or layouts, consults handbooks, tables as required.
• Cuts material from stock or orders.
• Draws tools from tool crib, lays out work and does all machining.
• Does heat treating/grinding or other special processes to include making of stamping dies and setting dies and running first article.

Salary Range Transparency: Murphy, NC $25.00–$30.00 Hourly Salary Range
