Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) seeks a Tooling Engineer to oversee all tooling programs from estimate to closeout in a DoD-focused environment.

You will coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to meet technical specs, schedules, and budgets while guiding staff and reporting to stakeholders. The role requires deep program management expertise, strong cost estimating, scheduling skills, and the ability to present results at program reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with progressive program management experience.
• Nine or more years of tooling program management experience with a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience developing project estimates, budgets, and schedules for tooling programs.
• Strong proficiency with project management tools and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage tooling programs from initiation through completion with estimates, schedules, submittals, execution, and closeout.
• Develop cost estimates for tooling projects accounting for materials, labor, and contingencies.
• Create and maintain detailed project schedules and identify critical paths.
• Prepare submittals including drawings, specifications, and approval packages.
• Monitor progress, conduct status reviews, and implement corrective actions.
• Generate program reports including status, financials, risk, and milestones.
• Coordinate closeout activities, lessons learned, and formal acceptance by stakeholders.
• Manage budgets, expenditures, invoices, and forecasting costs.
• Identify and mitigate program risks, maintain risk registers, and escalate as needed.
• Communicate with management, customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
