Job summary

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America in Russells Point, OH is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cutting tools, tool holders, and machining systems for high-precision transmission production lines.

You will oversee tooling budgets, drive cost-per-part reductions, troubleshoot machining issues, and advance tooling technologies across model programs, with hands-on leadership in tool room operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
• 2-8 years of tooling engineering, CNC machining, or equipment engineering experience in an automated plant.
• Expertise in 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and detailed geometric blueprint interpretation.
• Deep understanding of metal cutting mechanics, tool holder rigidity, and precision machining processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical evaluation and optimization of cutting tool geometries and tooling assemblies on high-speed CNC lines.
• Manage tooling expense budgets, track tool consumption, and drive cost-per-part reduction initiatives.
• Troubleshoot complex machining defects, tool chatter, and premature tool wear to maintain stringent quality standards.
• Direct the introduction of advanced tooling technologies, new cutting grades, and coatings for new model programs.
• Oversee tool room setup operations, automated presetting equipment, and internal tool regrind procedures.
