Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience designing mechanical hardware, tooling, fixtures, ground support equipment, or similar systems.
• Strong 3D CAD skills and experience developing production-quality engineering drawings; Siemens NX preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, fabrication, qualification, and implementation of tooling and ground support equipment.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, reactor hardware, operations, quality, and deployment teams to translate needs into solutions.
• Develop tooling concepts balancing safety, usability, manufacturability, schedule, cost, reliability.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings for fixtures, handling equipment, and test support equipment; NX preferred.
• Perform mechanical design and basic engineering analysis to ensure tooling is safe and fit for purpose.
• Design tooling with ergonomics, access, tolerance, repeatability, and maintainability in mind.
• Work hands-on with machinists, welders, technicians, suppliers, and engineers to fabricate and assemble tooling.
• Support initial use of new tooling on factory floors and deployment sites; implement rapid design improvements.
• Develop ground support equipment and handling solutions for large reactor hardware, including lifting and alignment fixtures.
• Develop fixtures, test stands, interfaces, and other equipment to configure and operate development hardware.
• Prepare tooling for transportation and site deployment, considering packaging, field handling, and installation sequence.
• Partner with deployment and reactor engineering teams to incorporate lifecycle handling into design.
• Maintain complete engineering definition for tooling, including BOMs, specs, and operating limits.
• Collaborate with suppliers and fabrication teams to resolve issues and stay on schedule.
