Job summary

Antora Energy, Inc. in San Jose, CA, is seeking an experienced Tooling and Equipment Design Engineer to drive the design, analysis, and release of fixtures, tooling, and lifting equipment for the NPI and Manufacturing Engineering teams.

You will balance hand calculations, FEA, and hands-on machining knowledge to enable high-rate production, while shaping the next-generation build process and gigafactory strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment, NPI, tooling, or equipment design engineering.
• Structural design experience with hand calculations and FEA.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and GD&T; hands-on machining, welding, and sheet metal experience.
• Knowledge of DFM, lean manufacturing, PFMEA, and work instruction development.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% during factory launches.

Responsibilities

• Lead process, tooling, and workcell design for subsystems from concept through release, fabrication, and proof load.
• Collaborate with design engineering to define build sequence and drive manufacturability.
• Develop work instructions and PFMEAs for stations.
• Tear down production process into facility requirements: layout, material flow, and tooling needs.
• Partner with factory planning and capital equipment owners through launch.
• Support stations in production and carry through product revisions.
• Implement production test processes and rigs while maintaining takt and line balance.
• Participate in EVT builds, process plans, release changes, and root-cause analysis.
• Work with EH&S to improve safety and review lifting/handling equipment.
