Job summary

Antares is seeking a Level I/II Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Mission Engineering team in Torrance, CA. You will support hardware design and development for nuclear power systems in space and on lunar/martian surfaces.

Responsibilities span CAD, system analysis, design reviews, and manufacturability improvements for first-of-a-kind hardware. You will own development tests, interface definitions, and how your hardware fits into the larger system, collaborating across nuclear, thermal,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
• 1-3+ years of space system/mechanical design experience.
• Expertise with CAD tools (NX/CATIA) and PLM/manufacturing planning systems.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware or deliverables related to the space nuclear system.
• Drive requirements definition/decomposition, build/test cycles, and defend decisions through all design phases.
• Own CAD models, manage configurations, produce drawings, DFMEA.
• Support development testing, test setup and documentation.
• Coordinate with nuclear, thermal, structures, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Develop a clean-sheet design through procurement and dev/qual testing.
• Support design reviews and integration/test planning for hardware.
