Job summary

RH Aero Systems in Mason, Ohio, is seeking a Senior Tool & Die Maker to own fabrication, assembly, modification, and validation of military-grade tooling from concept to production. The role emphasizes transforming prototypes into scalable, well-documented processes and collaborating across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in precision machining or tooling.
• Experience in aerospace/defense or highly regulated environments.
• Advanced expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T, precision measurement, CNC machining, fixture design.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, balance priorities and deliver results with minimal oversight.
• Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC programming, Lean or Kaizen practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of fabricating, assembling, modifying, and validating military-grade tooling from concept through production.
• Transform prototypes and one-off builds into safe, repeatable, well-documented manufacturing processes that can scale with production needs.
• Determine the best machining methods by interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment to produce precision components, fixtures, gauges, and tooling systems meeting demanding requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling, manufacturability, tolerance, material, and quality issues to keep work on track.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve manufacturability, production flow, first-pass yield, and lead-time reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, mistake-proofing, and stronger fixture solutions, while sharing expertise to develop less-experienced associates.
