Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Threat Detection Engineer to strengthen our cybersecurity posture through detection capability development, security monitoring, threat hunting, and audit readiness initiatives. This role combines hands-on security engineering with governance, risk, and compliance activities.

The ideal candidate will design and maintain detection across enterprise environments, tune SIEM rules, and collaborate with Security Operations, Incident Response, and Cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on detection engineering experience, SIEM rule creation at scale, scripting (PowerShell or Python).
• 5+ years in cybersecurity roles: threat detection, security operations, incident response, or audit.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms: Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk ES, QRadar, Elastic.
• Experience developing detection rules, alerts, and monitoring processes.
• Strong understanding of auditing principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain threat detection and monitoring capabilities across enterprise environments.
• Develop, tune, and optimize SIEM use cases, detection rules, alerts, and correlation logic to identify threats.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting, security investigations, and event analysis to identify suspicious activity and risks.
• Partner with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams to improve detection coverage and response.
• Support audits by providing evidence, documentation, and audit responses.
• Evaluate security controls and recommend enhancements for compliance and risk reduction.
• Align monitoring practices to regulatory requirements and security frameworks.
• Analyze security logs and telemetry from network, endpoint, cloud, and applications.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, and reporting to measure detection effectiveness and compliance readiness.
• Automate monitoring, investigation, and reporting via scripting and workflows.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
